AUGUSTA SCATTERGOOD will discuss and sign her debut novel, GLORY BE. Aimed at children ages 9-12, Glory Be is set in small town Mississippi in the hot summer of 1964. High-spirited Glory is planning her 12th birthday party when Freedom Workers arrive in town, and the resulting turmoil causes great emotional confusion. Segregation, prejudice and the ideals of the Civil Rights movement are all woven into a wonderful coming of age story. Drawing on real-life events, Scattergood has created a memorable novel about family, friendship, and choices that aren’t always easy.

Augusta Scattergood is a librarian turned book reviewer turned middle grade fiction author. She currently lives in St. Petersburg.

"Scattergood’s effective snapshot of the fight against segregation, one town at a time, makes personal the tumultuous atmosphere of the times." Publisher's Weekly
