We are delighted to present CARL HIAASEN at the FLORIDA AQUARIUM, for a booktalk and signing of his new novel STAR ISLAND. Tickets for the booktalk are no longer available as we have exceeded the venue's capacity, but we are accepting reservations for booksigning with purchase of the new book from Inkwood. It is too late to order from the website for the event, so please call the bookstore at 813-253-2638 for orders.

The action begins when Ann, an undercover stunt double for often-indisposed (read: druggie) pop singer Cherry, is kidnapped by obsessed paparazzo Bang Abbott. Cherry's handlers (uber-stage mother, nipped/tucked/botoxed twin publicists, borderline pedophile producer, and weed-whacker wielding bodyguard) frantically try to get Ann back without revealing her existence to the public - or to Cherry herself. Skink, the charmingly unhinged former governor of Florida, has met Ann (don't ask - long, funny story) and appointed himself her protector, providing an unexpected challenge for Cherry's entourage. Hilarious, outrageous, yet full of unexpected warmth and insight, Star Island is another winner from a favorite Florida writer.

(Please note: While Hiaasen has recently written three wonderful books for kids, this event will focus on Star Island, which is intended for adults.)
