Storyteller and cook KATHLEEN FLINN will discuss her newest book, THE KITCHEN COUNTER COOKING SCHOOL, with practical cooking techniques, simple recipes for healthy eating, and tips on getting the most from your grocery dollar. Eating healthy is challenge for most Americans. Packaged foods make quick, cheap meals, and spending time over a hot stove after a full day at work can seem daunting. After speaking with a woman at her local supermarket, who was loading up her cart with processed food, Kathleen decided to use her culinary training to help nine novice cooks find their cooking confidence. Her resulting book reads like a conversation between friends, swapping cooking tips over coffee. If you feel uncomfortable with a knife in your hand while staring at an onion, or need a little inspiration to get off the couch and into the kitchen, this event just might change the way you think about preparing meals.
