Stefani’s love of reading began because of her fear of horses. It was the 70’s, parents didn't hover or care what you did all summer as long as you weren’t inside. Stefani’s mother said she had to go to Lazy W Summer Camp with her brother and sister or “find something constructive to do.” Faced with the dread of riding horses around a dusty corral and singing inane camp songs, she promised her mother she would ride her bike to the local library every day and read the entire summer reading list up in her tree house. Thus began her love of reading. She’s not afraid of horses anymore, but she does panic if she doesn’t have something to read.
Stefani bought the store on April 1, 2013 from Carla Jimenez and Leslie Reiner, who founded the store in 1991.
